Application questions – 35 points

5 points each – each answer should be a minimum of 50 words)

What is the most important event in the book?  Why is it the most important? When does this event take place in the book (page numbers)?

The most important event of the book is the capture, trial, convection and execution of Eichmann, it’s the most important event because it was risky to get him out of Argentina and that was the first Naiz trial, convection and execution since the Nuremberg trials in the 1946-1950s. The events take place on pages 155-177 and 193.

Choose one character – Give a more detailed description of their role in the book, and then compare them to someone you know personally today.  Use two quotes from the book to help illustrate your description – cite page numbers where the quotes are found.

I chose Adolf Eichmann because he’s like my “father” they both don’t think they did anything wrong, “But Eichmann prefers not to eat”(p.186). Another way that he’s like my father is that he doesn’t care what he did to people,”Of the 9,600,000 Jews who lived in Nazi-dominated Europe, 60 percent are authoritatively estimated to have perished. Five million seven hundred thousand Jews are missing from the countries in which they formerly lived, and over 4,500,000 cannot be accounted for by the normal death rate nor by immigration; nor are they included among displaced persons”(p. 30).

Use two quotes from the book to show new things you have learned about this time period in history.  Explain what each quote helped you to better know or understand – cite page numbers.

One thing I found out was that they didn’t get all the Naizs right after the war and most of them were caught at a later date,”The noose was getting closer for Adolf Eichmann”(p.155). Another thing I learned was how long some of the trials took for the convicted or captured to get their sentence,”In fact, it is not until December 11, 1961, that the three decision.”

How might our world be different today if the historical events in your book had turned out differently?  Use two different examples to explain your answer.

The world would be different in one way, that there would be more Nazi sympathizers in the world, as one example is the amount of South American nations that are or have Naiz sympathizers in their nation. Another way the world would be different is the Naizs may of found each other and made and fourth reich as most of the ones that weren’t caught fled to South America.

What are three life lessons that can be learned from this book – how does each apply to your life?

Three life lessons from this book are don’t flee from you home nation because most likely you will be found and convicted, don’t be a Naiz sympathizer and if you do flee don’t go to South America because lots of people fled their and most got caught, these relate to my life because if I make a major crime( and I would never do this), these are what not for me to do.

If you were to give this book an alternate title, what would it be?  Explain why.

I would give it the title of “The background of a Nazi”, because it follows some of them from them fleeing to their capture, trial, conviction and execution, along with some of their background and personal life in hiding. Another title could be”The hunt of Justice”, because it follows some Israeli agent and their hunt for Eichmann which kill several Jews that then their family fled to Israel.

Explain in about 50 words why you would or would not recommend this book to your classmates.

I would recommend “Killing the SS” if you into history or post-WWII, because it follows the real life of Naizs in hiding and the quest to capture and bring them to justice. I would also recommend it if you want to know what the trial of a convencted Naiz looks like and the atrocities they committed during the war.
